Together at Good Scoop, we combine our strengths to create and deliver meaningful and effective PR, communications and messaging that resonate and drive results for Not-For-Profits.

Julie Clothier

Described by her former newsroom boss as a “force for good,” Julie brings over 25 years of journalism and communications experience, both in New Zealand and internationally, including time in Bangladesh. Her career has focused on advocating for positive change through compelling storytelling, aiming to transform systems that marginalise communities.

Julie’s communications skills played a key role in helping the shift towards evidence-based reading instruction mandated in New Zealand with Lifting Literacy Aotearoa. At Child Poverty Action Group, she ensured child poverty was a prominent election issue, influencing both major political parties in 2023.

With over a decade at TVNZ, Julie worked across many of the network’s news and current affairs programs, including Sunday, where she earned industry awards. Respected and well-connected in the media, Julie has deep insights into newsroom dynamics and excels at crafting impactful narratives that resonate with audiences and drive change.

Carolyn Brooke

With over 14 years of experience in journalism, public relations, and engagement, Carolyn has built a distinguished career specialising in Not-For-Profits. Her eight years with ChildFund New Zealand stand out, where she oversaw the communications for successful high-profile projects such as the Rugby World Cup 2022, Pasifika Festival 2023, and the Auckland Food Show.

Carolyn’s reputation is built on her innovative ideas and deep passion for effective communication and relationship building. Her corporate communications background and prior experience as an accountant provide her with a unique perspective on the challenges Not-For-Profits are faced with, enabling her to craft strategic and compelling narratives that resonate with diverse audiences.

A dedicated advocate for children’s rights and wellbeing, Carolyn’s role as a mother of two fuels her commitment to creating healthier and brighter futures for all children. Her blend of creative vision and practical experience makes her communication skills vital for any organisation looking to amplify its message and drive meaningful change.
